Former Prime Minister and senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh was admitted to Delhi's AIIMS on Sunday after complaining of chest pain. According to the news agency PTI, the former PM was admitted to the hospital at around 8.45 pm. Till the time of writing the news, he has been placed in the cardio thoracic ward.
There is no official information about what exactly happened to him, which had to be taken to the hospital. It is told that he is an Admittant in the Cardio-Thoracic Ward of AIIMS, where doctors are constantly monitoring his condition.
Singh is 87 years old. He is a heart patient and has been Prime Minister for 10 years. Born on 26 September 1932 in Gah (then British India, now in Punjab province of Pakistan) of Punjab, Singh has studied from Punjab University, Cambridge University and Oxford University. Apart from a politician, he has been a well-known economist, academician and bureaucrat. Singh has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
He became the 14th Prime Minister of India. He became PM on 22 May 2004. He was not a member of any House then. In this case he became the first Prime Minister. However, he was in politics much earlier. He was the Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996. Although he was not a member of the House even when he was given this position. As finance minister, his role in implementing economic reforms is recorded in history.
